S.A.D.D - Students Against Drunk Driving

Habersham County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer
Deputy J. Carver 143

To provide an educational program to Georgia's youth, which provides guidance, and the skills, ability and knowledge to be safe, healthy, and happy, in preparation for a successful life.

Todays students face dangers older generations could not have imagined. Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety (C.H.A.M.P.S.) was founded in 2003 by the Georgia Sheriff's Association to address these urgent challenges.

The flexible, twelve-week program includes a weekly hour-long lesson from a C.H.A.M.P.S.-certified deputy sheriff. Subject matter includes:

  • Drug, Alcohol and Tobacco Abuse Prevention
  • Boating/Swimming Safety
  • Hunting/Gun Safety
  • Gangs and Violence
  • Peer Pressure
  • And Much More!

The target audience is fifth graders, and the program is tailored to meet the unique needs of students in each county so they resist self-destructive behavior. Good behavior is positively reinforced through fun, rewarding activities.

To give Georgia's youth the best possible chance for adult success, please make a donation to the Georgia Sheriff's Association to support C.H.A.M.P.S. By strengthening the hard work families and educational professionals are already doing raising the next generation, C.H.A.M.P.S. ensures all of us have a brighter future.
